One day in December, just after my daughter’s third birthday, she came to me and asked me to do the dots so that she could write her name.

I didn’t really know what she was asking so she showed me the back of a painting where her keyworker at preschool had drawn her name in dots and she had traced over the top.

Half an hour later and a very bored little girl, I had finally finished drawing out a single page of dots. I had lost her attention. Eventually she came back to it and in less than five minutes she had completed the page. I drew out more, my dad wrote over the top. Frustrated and desperate to help my daughter I started looking online for some guidance and help. I found just sheets of dots. No framework, no formation guidance.

So I made my own framework and Write My Name was born. The product began as a download and has since developed into a wipe clean printed version that could be reused. I realised it would make a lovely gift and so the gift box was created with a personalised certificate that the child can write onto themselves as a keepsake of their first academic milestone, a dry wipe pen and reusable stickers. The progressive exercises feature your child’s actual name, not a variation. Their photograph reinforces the fact that this workbook is theirs and helps boost their confidence.
