DBEC First Aid started as a business on 1st July 2018, after losing our long-time friend, Dave, from a sudden cardiac arrest.
We knew Dave through our love of Martial Arts, he trained in the Club we run and Dave was an avid member. After his death, we spoke with his family about raising money for a defibrillator to go to our club. His family kindly offered to donate the money raised at his funeral to go towards purchasing one.
After the funeral, we were contacted by the company that Dave had worked for. They had heard about our fundraising efforts and wanted to donate a defibrillator to our Martial Arts Club, which was fantastic news. Dave’s family told us to put the donated money towards the club since training was his life.
This left us thinking; what can we do with the money in Dave’s honour, that would make a huge difference? It had to be something for the greater good. We decided to send Emma, (CoFounder and owner of DBEC First Aid) on a course to qualify her to become a First Aid, CPR and AED training instructor, that way she could teach anyone and enabling everyone the chance to save a life.
From there DBEC First Aid was born. The name was decided by using Dave’s initials, together with Emma and myself, Craig, ensuring Dave’s memory will live on at the heart of the company.
We are now pleased to run a whole host of different courses to suit all needs. We offer a range of Ofqual Regulated and TQUK Accredited courses and mini-courses for Children too.
We are currently in the process of building a fabulous website and cannot wait to get our brand out there and away from just our martial arts organisation.
