My name is Trudie. I am the maker at Little Bluebird, and boss of myself. Chief fabric buyer (aka fabric addict), sewing machine wrangler and creative stitcher. I am partial to a mug of strong tea (no sugar) and love a slice of cake. I dislike empty bobbins.
Being creative has always been important to me. I've doodled, drawn, painted, stitched and crafted for as long as I can remember. The day I discovered Freehand Machine Embroidery was my "Ta-da!" moment. It's like drawing with my sewing machine! My two most favourite things: sewing and drawing. I use Freehand Machine Embroidery (also known as Free Motion Embroidery) on just about everything I make. The personalised textile portraits are made to order. I work from your photos to create a unique textile portrait of your family. Pet portraits are also available! Each portrait is made up of lots of pieces of fabric appliqued onto linen and freehand machine embroidered.
My little studio is at my home in East Sussex, nestled right near the rolling hills of the beautiful South Downs. My surroundings often influence my work, and you'll often see some of our beautiful British birds and animals making appearances on my products.
