Handmade felted items.
Hi! I am Charlotte Owen and the owner of Charlotte Owen Felts.
I initially became fascinated with felting after attending craft fairs a couple of years ago and wondered how on earth did they make that! After two years of felting workshops I decided to branch out and start my own business. I have a great understanding of the properties of different types of wool and what works best for each piece of work.
My primary felting technique is traditional wet felting in which I produce my felted pictures and vessels. I also use the techniques of needle felting, nuno felting and cobweb felting - to name a few. I often combine more than one technique with each piece of art.
I create pieces in both 2D and 3D forms including pictures, pots, animals, jewellery, felted soap, scarfs, bags and sculptures. I am always amazed how versatile wool can be and how the finished piece of work can come out. No two pieces are ever the same!
I sell my work on my website, The British Craft House, craft fairs and a Craft Centre in Worcestershire.
This year one of my felted sculptures has been accepted to exhibit at the Royal Birmingham Society of Arts.
I welcome commissions and would be happy to discuss options with you.
